GDIplus.dll

I'm trying to install several downloadable Foxit Reader addons on three home
computers, all running Win2k. All the addons have installed smoothly except
for one, GDIplus_1.0.2006.0530.fzip. It will install on one of the laptops,
but that's it. This is exactly the same result as when I've tried this in
the past. The message is: "The process cannot access the file because it is
being used by another process."

Based on some quick research I unchecked Print Spooler in MS
Config/Services, rebooted, and tried again, but that didn't help. Also,
since I can revert these machines, I attempted to override gdiplus.dll in
the foxit directory (on the unproven assumption that that was the original
intent), but when you open the fzip file with winzip, there's nothing there,
at least that's visible.

I believe this is an OS issue because some other applications have this file
in their program folders (mp3tag, PowerPoint Viewer, and Canon scanner
software).

I think this update is a non-critical quality enhancement, but I'd like to
install it if possible, which it should be, since it did install on one
machine. Any suggestions?

No access to the Internet of course, but the file had been downloaded and
saved. Perhaps surprisingly, safe mode had no effect, but it did cause Foxit
to display a different message, saying a particular add-on, which they don't
even provide anymore, might be required.

Minor skirmish in the Computer Wars - I'm running up the white flag on this
one, but thanks for the additional research.
