Games crashing!!

Bill Birchall

I see there have been a number of people suffering
similar problems ie after a few seconds into the game eg
Call of Duty or Soldier of Fortune II the system closes
and tries to restart but fails at the search for IDE's. I
have an AMD Athlon 1,33ghz with 512 mb DDR ram, Chaintech
motherboard CT-7NJL1 and an ATI Radeon Sapphire 9600 pro.
XP seems to function OK until I attempt to use anything
of a graphical nature.

I have looked at the systems diagnostics and the
following error was shown which may have some
implication:-
SERVICE CONTROL MANAGER- Event ID 7000

'The General Purpose USB Driver (adildr.sys) service
failed to start due to the following error.
The service cannot be started because it is disabled or
because it has no enabled devices associated with it.'

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Bill,

Remove any USB devices attached to your system,
and then try playing the game again. I couldn't find
any of the other posts you referred to, if you could
point out their subject names, I'll look them over to
see if there's a common denominator involved. :)
