Game Voice Share - directplay error

When i run Game Voice Share(GVS) it runs the hardware test
and crashes. It brings up the following error "Directplay
voice has caused an error - 0x80004005" i have searched
the net for some solution but everything i have found
hasnt solved it. My PC is as follows
AthlonXP 1700
Albatron KT400+ Pro
256 ddr ram
Raedeon 8500

Stephen, there's a troubleshooting guide here:

suggest you download and install DirectX 9.0b, if you haven't already done
so.

I've also heard of incompatibilites between McAfee Virus Scan 7.0 and
DirectPlay Voice. You might try uninstalling Virus Scan 7.0 if you have it
installed and running the Direct Play Voice Wizard in DXDiag to see if it
passes.
