XP crashes, computer restarts, during gaming.

Hi.

My computer has got a big problem.
It crashes, not to desktop, it restarts.

I use XP professional on a Pentium 2,2 Ghz with 512 mb DDR-RAM, 60 gb harddrive and a GF

Ti4200 128 mb 8X.

Sometimes it doesnt reboot directly, instead the motherboard pc speaker beeps, lets say 20

sec then it says "press any keey to reboot" (in dos).

Its just when I play games like Colin McRae Rally 3 and similar, load the Graphic card.

Sometimes just when I started the game, and sometimes when playing a stage. Not regular.

Here is the error message I get when the computer have rebooted.
BCCode : 1000007f BCP1 : 00000008 BCP2 : 80042000 BCP3 : 00000000
BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 0_0 Product : 256_1

When I send the error message to Microsoft anlyzis I can read that it has something to do

with "Error Caused by a Device Driver".

This is the errors stored in the Logbook at the time of crash. The eventlog started just

before this error:
System Error
Felkod 1000007f, parameter1 00000008, parameter2 80042000, parameter3 00000000, parameter4

00000000.

Does anyone know what could be causing it? Is it hardware or driver related??

I have installed more RAM memory, upgraded from 256 to 512.
I have updated the graphiccard drivers from nvidia.
What else could I do??

I hope to get answears.

Best regards.

Niklas,

I get the same exact message and Micosoft's reply when I
send the message and track it is that it's due to a
device or software recently installed.

I have a P4 stick of 512 ddr and a Radeon 9200 128ddr
8x/4x graphics card. Microsoft suggested that I also
update the driver for the graphics card and Intel Chip
Sets which I did.

I'm not a gamer but my problems seem to occur after the
system has been up and running for a while.

Check your motherboard manufacture if there might be any
driver updates to download.

One thing you might want to check is when the system
resarts, go to your bios by hitting the del key and check
your cpu processor temprature. It should be between the
normal temp range. If its above that you might want to
add some thermal grease between your cpu and cooling fan.

Also, keep me in the loop since my system restarts
periodically too.

I have a 360W supply so it should be ok.
I have added a extra fan to the chassie near the cpu and the temperature is ok.

I'll check if I can update the motherboard drivers.

Also now the computer doesnt restart. I disabled the "Automaticly restart" in the Start up and recovery panel. But still it crashes to desktop when gaming.

I think I solved the problem. I installed new drivers for the AGP port, downloaded them from ASUS homepage.
