ftp ... connection with the server could not be established

murs

running XP

just moved from dial-up to cable

cannot download ftp files .... click on file to download
and nothing appears to occur

tried right click and chose Save Target As ... this gives
me an error message as follows ...

Internet Explorer cannot download ... filename ... from
site ....
A connection with the server could not be established.

This is not the problem in Knowledge Base article 816037,
as I already have a more current version of Urlmon.dll

Any ideas would be welcomed.

Thanks.

Your probably behind a firewall and the firewall is blocking the data stream back to your computer. Check you firewall settings

Thanks Chris,

While I am behind a firewall (Norton Internet Security),
even if I turn it off, I continue to have the same
problem.

Again, it only started when I moved from dial-up to
cable. Curious.
