Frontpage 2003

I have 2 quick questions:

First: I keep getting _vti_cnf designations on all my computer files since
installing FP2003. Why is this happening and what can I do about it?

Second: On my Hyperlinks page I get, in addition to all the correct pages,
a file that reads "Inddex_files/filelist.xml." Why is this happening? Do I
need to remove it?Thanks

The _vti files are part of FrontPage's management. Leave them alone.

All your folders on the PC, or just the ones in your web site?
If just the web site, then ignore them, as Tom said.

If all your folders (or every folder in My Documents) on the PC contain
_vti* files/folders, then you have converted your PC to one large
website.
In Windows Explorer, search for hidden files and folders named _vti*
Then delete them. If you are running IIS then do not delete any _vti*
files/folders in the inetpub folder, or any of its subfolders.
Do not delete any _vti* folders in the folders named My Webs - these
should be there.
When you open FrontPage, File->Open Web, then browse to the folder
holding your web site. FrontPage may ask to convert this to a web -
allow it to do so. The _vti* folders in this folder will be replaced.

Do not open My Documents in FrontPage - this folder is NOT a web site.

Inddex_files/filelist.xml is the result of using VML graphics in a web
page (specifically Inddex.htm), or using an Office application (Word,
Powerpoint, Publisher) to build the page.
VML should be avoided. See
http://www.rxs-enterprises.org/tests/VML-graphics.htm for details.
