FN Key Failure

When ever I boot up my Toshiba Laptop, the following error appears "TouchED
Error Retrieval of "THotkey" failed error code - oxooo31402,oxooooooo2"
The FN key works (the indication light works), but the function keys do not
work.

Does anyone have an idea how to correct this?

This is a Toshiba-specific error, not related to XP. Google this:

Error Retrieval of "THotkey" failed error code

and you will find a number of pages that discuss this problem and solitions,
some of which involve reinstalling the utilities and drivers.
