Fltmgr.sys blue screen

Hi all

glad to see everyone is having similar problems to me.
the problem i'm having is on the restart before the install completion
i get a blue screen and the computer restarts. i can't enter via safe mode
and all i seem able to do is revert back to xp. i should say i'm on xp home
and upgrading to vista home premium. anyway the error i get is a stop error
07 and it reverts to fltmgr.sys.
i have a Athlon 3800 64x2
motherboard is asrock ALiveNF6G-DVI and
uses Nvidia nf 6100-430 chipset
1gb ram

i have uninstalled everything, reinstalled xp, downloaded drivers for bios,
integrated graphics card and chipset as everyone on here suggests but i still
seem to have the same problem. i have also removed every other gadget from
the computer before doing the install. I should also mention that i get the
same thing whether i upgrade existing or try a clean install.
any ideas??

thanks in advance

Hi cstrachan,
the fltmgr.sys is the Microsoft file system manager (there was an error
during writing operations on the HDD).
For a start, check your connections and wires.
Do you have both S-ATA and P-ATA units?
If the answer is yes and you want to install Vista on your S-ATA HDD,
disconnect the IDE drive until the installation is complete.
Anyway, some other details regarding your set-up wouldn't be bad.
Regards.
