Where can I find the Flip 3D icon that used to be in the taskbar or
how do I get it back there?
I know the other shortcuts to activate Flip 3d but I want the icon in
the taskbar...
TIA

Click on the blue Vista start button and in the "Start Search"
box type: Switch and then click on the "Switch between Windows"
icon that appears at the top.

You can manually recreate the Show Desktop and Flip 3D icons. Here are the
steps.

1. Right click the desktop and select New / Shortcut.

2. Copy and paste the following in the Location Box and then click Next.

RunDll32 DwmApi #105

3. Enter the name Flip 3D and click Finish.

4. Right click the new shortcut and select Properties / Change Icon. Click
the Browse button and navigate to C:\Windows. Click the Explorer.exe file
and select Open. The icon is in the 3rd row, 5th icon. Select the icon and
click OK. Click Apply / OK and your done.

You can copy or move the shortcut to the location of your choice.

Go to this folder (a hidden path):

C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

and Copy the file "Switch between windows". Paste in to this folder:

C:\Users\(You)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

Ronnie...

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This has been driving me nuts all day! It
wouldn't normally have been such a big deal, but I just had shoulder surgery
and I'm stuck at home with nothing better to do than drive myself insane over
taskbar icons.

Thanks, again

I tried recreating my Flip 3D icon--in fact, I've done it three separate
times. The process does give me an icon that looks right, but it doesn't
work. When I click it, the little "busy" circle comes up for a brief moment,
but nothing happens.
Any thoughts? I stupidly deleted it the first day I had Vista, and now I've
seen how it works, and I WANT it.
Thanks,
Skye

Actually, a box comes up that is not animated, but I can switch windows. How
can I get the animation back?

I mapped the center button on my mouse to activate 3-D Flip, and I love
using it now.

create a shorcut with this command: "C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe DwmApi
#105" it should run, if not i recommend getting a program called tweakvi,
and if you get this i will give you the instruction to force flip 3d or aero
to run.
