Flash player trouble

I´m having trouble with the installation of Macomedia Flash Player 7.
Althought I´ve installed the latest version somehouw the Flash Player doesn´t
´connect´ with Internet Explorer & I can´t see Flash content on websites. I
performed the complete troubleshooting sequence presented by
Macromedia.com/support, uninstalling, download installer, adjusted security
settings, etc. etc. including typing in Start>Run dialog:
C:/Windows/System32//Macromed/Flash/Flash.ocx.
The result was an error report: DllRegisterServer in
C:/Windows/System32/Macromed/Flash/Flash.ocx failed, error code: 0x80020009
I´m using Windows XP Home SP2. Anybody out there with suggestions? Help will
be appreciated

Point is that there is no Flash ActiveX control mentioned in the list IE
Manage Add-ons.... although I´ve uninstalled & re-installed Flash Player
several times. The installer says ´Installation complete!` But it seems that
this ActiveX control just isn´t getting there where it should be.
Any more suggestions?

It's possible that Kill-bit is set to Flash ActiveX control. If so remove the Kill-bit:

Simply delete the {D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000} sub-key under ActiveX Compatibility key.

Thanks again for responding. The Kill-bit you mentioned was removed in
accordance with the procedures you referred to. After that I installed Flash
Player 7 again, which seemed to go well. The installer mentioned
´installation complete´(again) but Flash didn´t work...
The file C:\Windows\System32\macromed\flash\flash.ocx is installed. Somehow
the ActiveX control bits don´t appear in the list of Internet
Explorer>Extra>Add-on manager (if that is the correct term of the Dutch
`Invoegtoepassingen beheren`).
What can be done next?

Now it does, after removing the Kill-bit and opened the Manage Add-ons dialog again.

Although I´ve removed the Kill-bit properly and installed Flash Player 7
(again) there is no sign of the ActiveX Controls in the 2 Add-on manager
lists of IE (so no Flash Player nor Shockwave Player) in fact none of the
ActiveX controls originate from Macromedia.....

Also there´s still the errorcode 0x8002009 after I tried to do this: in
Start>Run dialog:
C:/Windows/System32//Macromed/Flash/Flash.ocx. (a suggestion of Macromedia
support....)
The result was an error report: DllRegisterServer in
C:/Windows/System32/Macromed/Flash/Flash.ocx failed, plus aforementioned
errorcode.
Any idea where I can look for the meaning of this errorcode? There most be a
list of codes somewhere, or......??

I have had all the same problems youve explained ,

In that case perhaps you can clarify the typo of the error code
which was given last? (There were only 7 hexidecimal digits given
instead of the 8 which were probably displayed.) <eg>

Also please explain exactly what was Run... to cause that
because although I suspect regsvr32 was involved
it doesn't say that. <eg>

Hmm... I just loaded swflash.ocx in DependencyWalker
and noticed that there is a delayed dependency for msjava.dll in it.
I wonder what would happen if somebody had both MS Java and
Sun Java and only Sun Java was active? Or even worse what if
msjava.dll was still there installed and inactive but broken? Etc.

Please post your own details in your own thread.
We can't assume that you both have identical symptoms
or even if you do have identical symptoms you may not
have identical causes or even if you do have identical symptoms
and identical causes you may not both have the same OS
or other environmental factors may be different. Etc.
