Flash.ocx causes IE6 to close

Running XP Pro with all available updates. No changes to system but I have
started to recieve an error message, shutting down IE6, whenever I spend
time on a site using flash.

AppName: iexplore.exe
AppVer:6.0.2800.1106
ModName: flash.ocx
ModVer: 7.0.14.0
Offset: 00018f50

Seems to happen at a random time from 1 to 5 minutes after going to a site
with flash animation or when playing a flash game. I have no problems with
IE6 on the same sites once flash is removed from the system but of course
the flash animations and games don't function. There is no problem with
shockwave.

I was so frustrated that I did a clean re-install of XP. I was not thinking
clearly when I finished it and reloaded all the updates without testing for
the flash problem with the base XP installation so I'm not sure if it is
related to one of the patches. Of course, by the time I finisihed (in fact
I'm still piecing things together days later) the problem remains.

Would appreciate solution or suggestions that I might try.

The system is a Dell Dimension XPS R450 with a powerleap 1400 processor
upgrade, ATI Rage Fury Pro (32 meg) graphics card, 384 meg ECC memory. The
system as described was stable for over a year before the flash problem
started. No hardware or OS changes except the MS patches.

Thanks,

Jeff

This is a long shot.
Proxomitron has been known to cause some problems with Flash.

Thanks for the response - unfortunately I've never installed Proxomitron so
the problem must lie elsewhere.
