......4.66% and progressing! :D

Could not wait till the weekend and decided to go ahead and try it out;)

Everything so far seems to be going smoothly and I am keeping an eye on things. I guess I will be on the Boinc stats page of PC Review after my first WU is submitted which it indicates will complete in about............5:01:49.

What should I tweak first? I have been trying to catch up on reading and its a bit over-whelming. Anyway, I am open to suggestions :D

Would my daily returns be better served going Boinc than doing the current way i am, is it easy to do, painless & an enjoyable experience:D Only 1200 away from a star, would i loose that if i changed? Having a star of my own is like hitting the big time:rolleyes:

First job completed in 6:19 minutes and I found out that the score claimed but not yet granted is 68 for the WU, Not sure how good or bad that is:D I guess the next update will clear up the score actually granted to my account.

Looks like everything is just going smoothly and the temperatures are very similar to when I was not using Boinc.

I wonder if there is anything else that I need to tweak to make it crunch faster :D

Crowbar another CPU in there, and that's about all you can do. :thumb:

Time between score claimed & granted can take 2 weeks or more ... usually within a few hours ... 'tis one reason why our scores are up one day and down the next.

UD awards points as soon as you return the WU. ;)

They could, they should ... ;)

Depends on how bad you are at installing software ... Boinc ain't Windows friendly automaticly, you have to read a little.

Nope, points will still be awarded to you ... so you will still get a star. :D

Having a star of my own is like hitting the big time:rolleyes:
Yup, it sure is ...

Quad, Have you used the Guntec.de tweak for BOINC yet?

Its self explanatory, but if you need help then shout! :)

Instructions:

  1. Stop the running Boinc Manager
  2. Extract the files in the archive into your boinc folder.
  3. If you get a message containing something like "overwrite exiting files" select YES.
  4. Restart the Boinc Manager
  5. Run the benchmark test
If you do use it can you make a note of yourCPU benckmark score before and after the tweak? :)

Before the Guntec.de tweak

28/03/2006 22:01:53|| 1722 double precision MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU

28/03/2006 22:01:53|| 3513 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU

After the Guntec.de tweak

28/03/2006 22:17:12|| 2384 double precision MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU

28/03/2006 22:17:12|| 7880 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU

Wow!!!! That seems to have made a big difference! Is that what you were expecting? Pleased? Dissapointed?

I also noticed that the current WU before was supposed to finish in little less than 6 hours now it says it woud finish in under 3 hours :p

I know you are on to something, but, I am getting very curious as to what this all means, would you PLEAAAAAAASE explain to me? :)

yes ... bigger is better ...

Haven't a clue ... but when you start returning 1500-2000 points a day we'll know better.

;)

* shyte, better get another PC running to stave off Quads onslaught *

:D

Thats all good Quad, all good! :thumb:

I'll be honest, i didn't expect it to be quite that much. I forgot to bench mine before i tweaked it unfortunately. So i wasn't sure how big a difference it would make. But thats really good.

You should also see a nice increase in crunching speed....

Ady will be interested to see the benchmark scores me thinks....

I think Ady would be the best person to explain the 'ins and outs' of it. But basically it is tweaked to get the best out of your particular CPU.

Well lets see what ady has to say about this.

Well I was going to overtake you in 10 days before I installed Boinc anyway, now I am not going to just overtake you, but, when I pass by you will be barbecued anyway. So, flap your wings and smile, I am on my way
