Firewire capture has odd parasitic effects

I can't seem to figure out this issue at all. I've been
digging in various forums and newsgroups but I can't
understand what is going on.

I have a Canon Mini DV camera which works FINE (I am
certain that this problem is NOT camera related because
the same thing happens with another Mini DV camera). I
have an IEEE compliant Firewire card which also seem to
work OK (I am not sure of this). When I attempt to
capture video from my camera (be it playback from tape or
from a live signal) I get an extremely large number of
parasitic video effects in the form of blocks of pixels
in various colors (mostly red, green, purple). There are
some sections of the preview which show the proper video
signal from the camera, but most of it (say 65% of the
signal) is riddled with video artefacts.

Does anyone have any opinions on this issue? If anyone
is interested, they can check a photo at the URL

(If the link isn't up when you read this, I probably
haven't uploaded the file yet - give me a bit of time :] )

Regards,

Peter
