Filmstrip keeps disappearing

Hi,
I find the filmstrip viewer very useful for quick previewing pictures in
Windows Explorer, but this option is not always available, and yes I am aware
that it is only available from the "My Pictures" folder. I have many
sub-folders as part of "My Pictures" folder, but as far as I understand this
should not make the filmstrip viewing option not available.
Could some-one enlighten me? Could I have turned this option 'off' by
mistake? Is there a way for me to 'turn on' this option again?
Thanks for any help or insight.

You do not have to be in "My Pictures" folder or sub-folder of it to get
Filmstrip.
When the first file made in a folder is an image file, XP should associate
this type of file with a "Pictures" folder and automatically give you
Filmstrip view.
If this is not happening do the following.
Click on Start and click on Run and type the following in the textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press the Enter key.
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SH..
This will take a second to run and will take care of new image file folders
you make.

Now to get the Filmstrip for your folders where it is not available, simply:
Right click on the folder or subfolder name.
Click on Properties
Click on the Customize tab and then for "What kind of folder", scroll to
Pictures.
This should do it.

Thank you. It works when the "customize" tab is available, but if I select
the "my pictures" folder the customize tab is not there!!!!!! It is there
are some of the sub-folders, so the fix works. I have to go through the tree
and do the main sub-folders and then check off the "apply to sub-folders" box.

Thanks again for your time.
