I'm sure hoping someone can help me out with this. I recently restored a
backup archive (through Acronis True Image) and now every single one of the
files in all of my folders has an identical "ghost" file with a "~"
association / extension. For example, a functional file such as
'hth263amrd.dll' has a twin "ghost" file labeled 'hth263amrd.dll~N7F480FB'
and if I try to access it I get a pop-up window explaining "Windows cannot
open this file: File: hth263amrd.dll~N7F480FB......To open this
file,......." These "~" files are listed as being the same size as the
functional file, so, basically, I'm losing valuable H.D. space by having
these 'duplicate' files on my system. What are they and how do I get rid of
them?!? I'm getting ready to install 2 new 320GB SATA II drives in my system
and would like to clone my old drives / partitions to the new drives, but
definitely don't want these files taking up valuable real estate on my new
drives. Somebody---anybody---please help me! Thanks in advance for any
assistance.
