Files not found when running XP Repair

Hope someone can help. A few months back I had problems running sfc /scannow
with SP2 installed. A Microsoft support rep sent a CD (0304 Part #
X10-52223) with Xp-Home and SP2 installed. Everything worked well since.

Recently I started having strange problems. Example when changing main
windows some times it would take 5-10 seconds until I could move the mouse,
and more significant. If I went to safe mode and tried to run defrag, I
could move the mouse for 2-3 seconds and then would need to wait 10-15
seconds to move it again. And running defrag in safe mode, which used take
at most 30-45 minutes took over 2 hours.

I did the re-install of XP with R repair so the primary files were
replaced but left all the user files intact. After checking out the defrag
in safe mode problem, I eventually found it was a new VIA driver (IDE
Acelerator) that was causing that problem. Uninstalled that driver, and
everything has worked well since!

*** But during the install of XP from this new CD there were several files
that were on the CD, that were called for, but did not install.
I could see the files (almost as a ghost image) when I used browse but
they did not install. Everything works well without those files.

But my question is what do each of those files do, and "IF" I need any
of them, which of them should I install and how do I install them??

Those files that did not install are are "ALL" in the I386 folder on the CD.

UncleDoug, since MS sent you a slipstreamed version of WinXP + SP2 when
you are doing a install many of the files
in the SP2 Pack are replacing the older files in XP and that's what you
see that is not being installed. Those not installed
are just the older versions of the files which SP2 has replaced.
