windows XP pro - upgrade set up cannot copy files

i had problem with my XP, I tried to upgrade/re-instal that operational
system, but there is some lost drives.


"setup cannot copy the files:

* IEXPLORE.EX_

* iedw.ex_

* HMMAPI.DL_

* icwconn1.ex_

* icwconn2.ex_

* inetwiz.ex_

* icwhelp.di_

* icwconn.di_

* icwutil.di_

* icwrmind.ex_

* icwip.du_

* phone.ic_

* phone.ve_

* state.ic_

* msicw.is_

* msn.is_

* support.ic_

* msobshel.ht_

* install.in_

* isignup.ex_

* icwtutor.ex_

* icwres.dl_

* trialoc.dl_

* cobeinfo.in_

* oemlogo.gi_

* mouse.ht_

* isp.ht_

* oempriv.ht_

ensure that the disk labeled windows XP professional service pack 2 CD' is
in the drive selected below or provide the location where the file can be
found.

e.g: copy files from...... D:\i386

do you want to continue setup without copying this file? yes

** if i choose "no", i have to stop that setup.

*** this message appears for each of those files above.


what can i do to fix this problem?


is there some one to help me to fix that???

you have a problem with either the CD drive, and or the install cd, may have
a scratch on it making it non-readable.
Clean your drive, or try a friends cd drive in your pc.

Could it be possible Microsoft is blocking this in one way or another???
It copied the file icwconn1.ex_ and icwconn2.ex_ from my service pack2 CD and copied and burned it onto another new CD-rom using another computer. Cpying and burning worked perfectly on this (newer) computer. Than I tried to use this perfectly working CD to copy the file to repairing windows XP. ... it did not work!
I tried renaming the files to .exe again using another new CD-rom. Did not work!
I tried an older service windows pack2 CD (2005) again did not work!

Strange??
