I was looking for the table or text where vista gives a complete list and
type of extensions that vista supports. I was able to find it on XP easier

Thank you,I understand. For familiarity purposes I was trying to find where
on my computer software coud I find a listing such as:

extension type of file

gif picture
doc word or text
rar archive and so on

Vista, strictly speaking, is the operating system on which programs run, and
it is the programs or applications that support file extensions. In other
words, individual programs can show files with certain extensions. If you
are trying to open a file extension and it is not working, the answer could
be that you have do not have the program that can properly display that file.


Search for the file extension online, and you may be able to find which
programs can display that type of file extension, and download that program.
