I have a file that XP Home doesnt recognize. I have know
idea what program made it. XP asks me if I want to use
the internet web site ( shell.windows ) to find out, but,
I am denied access. I am looking for a lost Outlook
Express address book on my aunts machine and suspect this
file. Searching for WAB files turns up nothing.

Anyone, Help !

The .wab file should be under:

%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\<filename>.wab

If not, check the following registry for its location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4\Wab File Name

as the default value.

Since you never specified what "this file" actually was by name then obviously we cannot help you in regards as to what the filetype (extension) is used for. There are separate newsgroups specifically for Outlook Express (don't use the newsgroups for Outlook which is NOT the same or even related to OE) where you might target your query to a better audience for a solution.
