File acces denied. You do not have the permission [...]

Dear all,

Searching the web for a solution I came across about 20 of them but none of
them really helped me so far... Maybe there are some tech-wizards here?

Situation: I got a new Vista-laptop. Of course I want to import my old
emails onto my new laptop in Outlook 2007 (not Windows Mail). I copied the
file outlook.pst from my PC (Windows XP, Outlook 2007) to an external USB HDD
using Windows Explorer. Then I plugged the external HDD into my new laptop
and copied the file to the root-directory of the HDD of the laptop, also
using Explorer, but then in Vista.

Then when I try to use File-Open in Outlook and load the file it gives the
infamous "File acces denied. You do not have the permission [...]"-error. I
tried renaming the file, I tried making another Mail-user account, didnt
work. Then I tried replacing the new outlook.pst with the old one, with
Outlook turned off, but then Outlook wouldn't even start up after anymore.
Nothing worked, the error keeps coming back :-(

I checked the read-only thing, and the security issues, those are all the
same as with any blank file I create, so that doesn't seem to be the problem.

Any suggestions? Thanx in advance!

Regards,

RJean
