Fax won't work

D

Don Stowell

The fax that was installed witn XP Professional worked; Now all of a sudden
it does not receive or send. When I try to send it always says the line is
busy-then when I fax manually with my machine it works fine. Receive always
trys to receive then says an attempt to receive a fax failed. How can I fix
the XP Professional fax?

Have a great week,

Don

Hi,

Have you checked the modem? It may have failed or been hit with a surge.
Click start/programs/accessories/communication/hyperterminal. Cancel out of
the prompt, then enter ate1 - if you get an "ok" message or a 0, then it may
be alright. Try using it to dial out, see if it works.
