Fax srv disabled but W2K still trying to answer faxes

Matt Crosby

I have disabled faxing on my W2K computer, but the machine
is still trying to answer fax calls made to an analogue
fax machine sharing the same phone line as the computer.
Fax is not an option in Add/Remove programs.
Is it possible the modem can be hte cause of this problem??
Thanks

In W2K, Fax is not a removable component. Disable fax by one of the
following ways:

1) Remove the modem from your computer and Fax will be disabled
automatically, or
2) Stop and disable Fax service. - type services.msc in a command prompt,
goto Fax, double click on it. Click 'Stop' to stop the service and then
select 'Start up type' as 'Disabled'. Press 'Apply' and 'OK' to exit.

This should solve the issue.
