Win2000 answering analogue fax too

M

Matt Crosby

My W2K server is on a shared phone line with an analogue
fax. Despite disabling the fax service in W2K the computer
still tries to receive the faxes destined for the analogue
machine. Is there any other way to completely disable
faxing on this machine or is it a problem with the modem.
Please help.
THanks.

If you don't ever want the fax service on the W2K computer to answer any
calls, just disable the service. You can either remove Fax completely from
Control Panel/Add Remove programs or just disable the Fax service from the
Services MMC (Start\My Computer\Manage)

I have already performed this procedure but the computer
is still trying to answer calls. Could it be the modem
that is responsible??
Fax is not shown in add/remove programs, and the service
is disabled.
THanks in advance.
