fax installation at windows startup

Every time i start my xp home I get an annoying window that pops up saying
'preparing to install fax software' and 'installing quickprojects'.

After whizzing through the HD, xp then asks me to locate the files
'quickprojects.msi' and 'fax.msi' to continue the installation. I have
neither of these two files on any of my original program discs. I have a
Compaq machine and the XP installation disk was only supplied as a partition
on my HDD, so that isn't browsable. In the absence of the files needed to
continue these insatallations, I have to choose Cancel, only for the routine
to start over again.

Very frustrating! can anyone help?? thanks

Take a look at the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility:

How to use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

Every time I launch my application, Windows Installer performs an
installation. How can I determine the cause of the on-demand installation?
