Favorites URL Link

All my Favorites within the folder both in Windows XP "Windows Explorer" and
"Documents & Settings" Folders show the URL as I want "show all file
extensions" but In Internet Explorer and Control Panel Favorites the URL for
the shortcuts are showing the URL extension and I cannot remove it or it
then is not a URL. How do I get the URL extension to not show in Favorites
shortcuts?
