Faulting application iexplorer.exe

Peter

While browsing websites, I receive this error then
prompted to either send or not send error report to
Microsoft. Regardless of the choice, IE shuts down. I've
checked the application event viewer and noticed two
descriptive errors: faulting module mshtml.dll and
flash.ocx.

I'm up to date on all Windows critical updates and
antivirus definitions. I also routinely use Spybot.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Peter,

If this has happend only once or twice I wouldn't worry much about the error, it could have been anything that caused it. As for IE closeing down after selecting wether or not to send a report to Microsoft, that is normal behavior and was designed to shut down.

The Flash.ocx is for Macromedia's Flash Player which could be causeing the error. Have you visited the Windows Update site to see if there is an update for the Flash Player?

Thanks Gregg:
I typically do not update anything other than the
critical updates, but I can give it a try to see if it
helps at all. However, booting up this evening was
problematic at first - a whole host of errors appeared in
the application and system event viewer. Also, IE was
acting very strange. The connection terminated, but I
still had my icon in the sys tray, which never happens.
When I attempted to view the status, it
simply "winked/flashed" but would not appear on the
screen. I'm contemplating restoring the system back to a
time when all was stable since the errors and problems
seem random and intermittent.
