External hard drives

I have an external hard drive and I'd like to get another larger one and
copy the data from the smaller one to the larger one. Is this possible and
if so how? Using Windows xp home.

Sure.

Are these USB drives? It's all data on the drive, not programs? Just
connect them to two USB ports, and copy everything on the first to the
second. You can use copy and paste, drag and drop, or the copy command at
the Start | Run line.

It's possible and easy. I use FileSync for this purpose, from
www.fileware.co.uk

it's much more reliable than the native Windows tools, which have an
annoying tendency to just give up on any errors, without identifying what or
where the error was. It will copy all the files, recreating complete
folder structures, and can do binary compares so you can be sure the copies
are exact.

Yes and it's easy if you can connect them both at the same time.

Just treat them like any other internal drive; Copy.
