explorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. (Critical)

Started to have persistent problems with windows xp.
I can't open *any folder* or control panel.

Double clicking a foloder for instance gives me that:

"explorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will
need to restart the program."

If I look task manager a drwtsn32.exe appears and I must end the task to
continue.

Installed an explorer replacement, works ok.
Booting safe mode works, all folders are clickable.
Saw many people saying uninstall nvidia geforce drivers or update, none of
these works.

Went to msconfig: Diagnostic Startudp - load basic devices and services only
But problem persists in that mode too.

Problem seems to be started after installing a web cam (that is now working
properly)
All other things function (I can start programs, connect to internet, go to
DOS cmd, and so on)

Checked microsoft notes that say to uninstall cleansweep (I don't have it
but can't uninstall anything since can't access control panel, unless I boot
safe mode)

Virus and spyware clean (performed the scan, and there is no suspicious
processes running)

Could you please help me?

an addin could cause the problem too. For example, if you try to view a
link that loads a pdf file, but your pdf addin or program is not functining,
your ie will encounter an error and close...blah.....

Ran antivirus in safe mode and found 2 silly but nothing changed after
cleaning.
Ran system file checker complete and nothing changed.
Did Windows reinstallation in place and error keeps the same.

I'm runing out of ideas...

Ok,
First, I made a mistake and thought that you were having a problem with IE,
that is why I thought of the addin's.
But the problem is the desktop. You may not know this but you can terminate
the explorer.exe process via
task manager. Then you can "run" explorer.exe Supposedly, this reloads the
registry. Some beleive that if you make
changes to the registry, there is no need to reboot if the process is
termnated and started again in the task manager.

But being that explorer.exe is non functional in normal mode, but functional
in safemode, this means that
a third party driver is the problem. In safe mode, no third party drivers
are loaded. But also, in safe mode
not only does the cpu have more power, but there are no startups in msconfig
and there is more free memory.

Some webcams are high memory and process hoggers. And if you installed the
bundle software then I think it is a registry problem. Or something in your
startup like automatic updating, auto registrating, may interrupt the cpu
and crash your system.

There are logs that document the errors that occur before crashes.
These are called error reporting logs and can be found under the admin
tools.
Also, there could be a startup that is overwhelming your cpu. Keep in mind
that depending on your webcam settings,
your computer has to be fast enough and powerful enough to run it in
addition to everything else it has to do. Sometimes
adding more memory helps alot. If there is a hardware conflict, then could
be a possible cause. Even though you may
not have any question marks in your hardware listing, you should check all
the properties and enusre there are no
interrupts that are conflicting. Go down the listing one by one.

However, there are many more options that can be taken to resolve this
issue. But what I suggest is to download a software like
systemmechanic and use all the options it has to seek and resolve a bunch of
issues on your system. It is trial ware
but is functional for a while. I would run all the options and see if
anything can be resolved.

The repost your results.....

I'm runing out of hope here.
That's the scenario: the webcam works correctly. Plugged to usb appears
normally ask for drivers,
I installed it and it's working okwith msn but explorer.exe keeps generating
errors (drwtsn32.exe)
I tried unplugging it (the webcam) and removing drivers, but didn't got
better.
Same thing with nvidia video drivers.

System Mechaning fixed some things but nothing changed and problem keeps the
same.

Tried disabling in hardware the nvidia drivers but it's the same.
Doesn't seem to be memory isssue to me.

Can't find a log providing me helpful information (wanna tell me exactly
where please?)

Went down the list one by one. A scanner agfa was duplicated so removed one
of them,
but the scanner used to work and was installed moths before I started have
problems.

Removed some software to see if that help out but no.

Spyware and virus seems not to be the problem either.

Ending explorer.exe in task manager and starting it over doesn't help.

I'm getting closer: it's not the webcam or anything.
The problem started after windows update...
