explorer.exe error

I cannot open any of the settings applications such as
control panel, printers, etc. from the start menu or the
desktop without getting explorer.exe error. These
applications can be opened via the explore menu, ie right
click on the start menu..... Any suggestions other than
re-loading windows 2000.

Best wishes, I've been working a similar problem for about
a week now, but the best suggestion(s) that "Dave" has
offered is to: 1) create a new user--to see if it's a
corrupt profile issue; 2) Do an in-place repair by
reinstalling W2K. I tried both and had "limited" success,
but still can't run any applets from Control Panel and
can't access explorer from the desktop!
