Explorer.exe error

After my computer is running for about a minute I get the
error Explorer.exe has generated errors please restart the
service. I click ok and explorer.exe restarts but I've
lost half of my quick launch icons. Also after this I'm
unable to check my e-mail with Outlook Express, it will
kick me off the internet. I am running Windows 2000 pro
and the most recient program I installed is the ZoneAlarm
firewall. Any help would be appreciated, I'm stumped!?!

I have similar problem ... but not identical. I get the
same message, but only when when I run explorer.exe. I'm
also running Windows 2000 Pro. I had been at Service Pack
2. Explorer.exe had been running just fine. I just
upgraded to SP 4 and 36 additional critical fixes. Now, I
get the error message. ( My Computer still works ... I
can access the file lists. ) I also loose some of my quick
launch icons after the restart.

The reason I did the critical fixes update was see if that
would fix an Outlook Express 5 problem I was having ... it
wasn't able to download my mail from the mail server and
the system slowed down to a crawl. The updates today
fixed that problem.

I have ZoneAlarm and have been using it for years. I
guessing but I don't think that is your (our) problem.
But, stranger things have happened.
