Explorer crashes every time I close a popup

I've got Earthlink's toolbar on my browser, but even when I turn off the
popup blocker and scam blocker, my browser still crashes every time I close
out of a popup window or whenever I close the browser itself. Get the
"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem" message. It's getting pretty
aggravating. Any ideas?

I'm computer competent, but not an expert by any stretch.
