explorer shuts down when closing any window within a site

i keep getting the message that explorer has encountered
a problem and needs to close whenever i try to close a
window within a site; whether a popup window, a window
within a chat room, even moving around in here
sometimes. I have reinstalled IE6 with the most recent
update and still having the problem. Started big time
yesterday afternoon, but have had some trouble for a
couple of weeks. Any ideas?

I have the exact same problem, but it's been happening
for about a month now. I don't think that it's
update,virus,or spyware/adware related. I've also
reinstalled, but it didn't help. I've been sending
numerous error reports, but it seems microsoft isn't
interested.

One more thing. when I press ok to close IE i get another
alert that says: The instruction at "0x01a23812"
referenced memory at "0x01ae9f88". The memory could not
be "read'. Click OK to terminate the program. And then
when I click OK, then that prompt disapears and the same
one returns, I click OK and another appears, etc. So then
I need to open Windows Task Manager and have to terminate
the program. When I do that all IE windows close and I
lose all information. This just happened to me again a
minute ago. This is very irritating and ask for any help
possible. Thanx!!!!
