.exe files..

Hello, I have a cd that has programs on it. The
programs are all .exe files. When I put the disk in a
computer with Win98 SE I can see icons for the files.
When I put that same disk in my Win XP computer the files
look "generic" and will not install.

When I click the .exe file to install it pulls up a small
black box (looks like a DOS box) but then quickly goes
away. There is text in the box, but it leaves the screen
too fast and I can't read it.

I know the programs are working and all are compatiable
with XP. It just seems like when I copy the .exe files
onto my computer XP is not reading them properly. Also,
does anyone know where there is a good "chat" room for
troubleshooting with people that are running XP?

Thanks for any help!

Hi,

XP has an option, I believe it's under the Help menu on
the right hand side of the screen, for istalling older
software. Have you tried that versus executing the .exe
directly?
