excel won't open when editing powerpoint graph

Hi. I am working on excel 2007. When I click on a graph in powerpoint and
select "edit data" excel doesn't open. I can see in task manager that the
service (excel.exe) starts but the program doesn't open. I have re-installed
and still nothing.
Any ideas anyone?

What happens if you double-click an XLS or XLSX file on your computer? Does
Excel open then?

I'd probably run Office Diagnostics. Open PPT and go to Office Button | PPT
Options | Resources and run diagnostics there.

run this in your command prompt:
regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\ole32.dll

worked for me.
