Excel Freezes upon opening

When I try to open excel it just freezes. All other office
programs work. I uninstalled and reinstalled but still no
go. I cannot even end task. I need to shut down. Window 98

Help Please

THANKS. I followed instruction from a previouse post and
fixed the problem.

"You perhaps have a corrupt toolbar file. Close Excel, do
a search of your HD for *.xlb, and delete any you find.
Then re-start Excel (it re-creates the toolbar file)."

This worked.
