Lost Split / Freeze option under Window pulldown in Excel. Fix?

Somehow I lost the ability to Split or Freeze panes in Excel, using the
Window pull down menu. It still works if I customize the toolbar using the
icons for both. I'm just wondering why the options don't appear anymore in
the Window pulldown. I've uninstalled Excel and reinstalled, though I haven't
uninstalled the entire Office suite yet. Using Windows XP SP-2 and the
Teacher and Student Edition of Microsoft Office Suite 2003. Thanks.
