Excel 2003 - error message after closing app

Recently I started getting the following error msg: "MS Office Excel has
encountered a problem and needs to close..." after I close the spreadsheet
and exit the application. Excel is version 11 Build 8134 and part of Office
Professional 2003. Any help will be appreciated.

Thx.

I am having the same problem, can't figure it out. Does anyone have an
answer for this?

Thank you!

I too get this error. It's driving me crazy. At first, it was giving the
error but no additional information. Then after a couple of months, I
started to get a popup saying "click here for additional information on this
error". Doing so indicated that it was an incompatibility between Excel and
Acrobat but based on the version of Acrobat I had (6.0.6), it stated there
should be no problem. Nevertheless, I upgraded Acrobat to 8.1. I applied
SP3 to Excel. Now I still get the error on close but without the popup
saying to click for additional information.

ARGGGGGHHHH!

Just a little more information. This still may be related to Adobe's PDF
Maker plug-in for Office. I de-installed Acrobat 8.1 and had no trouble with
Excel. Reinstalled Acrobat 8.1 and the problem returned. Wish I could just
install the plug-in for Word and not Excel but Adobe doesn't provide that
option. The PDF Maker is installed for the entire Office suite or not at all.

I can't seem to get this corrected and it seems like a lot of Excel users are
having this issue. No one seems to have an answer. I know that when I sign
on the computer as an administrator, I do not get the error. But when the
regular user of the computer signs on she is still getting the error. I gave
her administrator rights to the computer, she still gets the error. I have
updated everything, uninstalled and reinstalled.... Still getting the
error....

Hi All,

I could solve my problem by placing a missing Dll in the windows\system32 dir.
Strange thing is that even a reinstall of office 2003 could not solve the problem.

The dll is xllex.dll and should be in the system32 direcory.

You can dowload it from:
http://www.dlldll.com/downdll/7141.html

Afer placing the file there the problem is solved.

I hope it can help others!

Cheers,

Sander.
