Excel 2003 crashes when exiting application

I posted the below msg. on 7/16/07. I have yet to find an answer.
Apparently, I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. See the threads
on the original msg. Any help would be appreciated.

"Recently I started getting the following error msg: "MS Office Excel has
encountered a problem and needs to close..." after I close the spreadsheet
and exit the application. Excel is version 11 Build 8134 and part of Office
Professional 2003. Any help will be appreciated."

Thanks.

Check Tool>>Add-ins and make sure no add-ins are being loaded.
Also check Help>>about>>disabled items to see if Excel has prevented
something loading right
This sort of thing often happens is you have some flaky add-in installed.
Also did you chang anything recently?
You might want to make usre you don't have any VBA add-ins installed too.
If this fixes the crash then add the add-ins back one by one till you work
out which one causes the crash.

cheers

Thx. I checked both items - Add-ins and Disabled - and they appear to be
fine.
I haven't changed anything.

Here's the error signature info if it helps:
AppName: excel.exe AppVer: 11.0.8146.0 AppStamp:46a45966
ModName: mso.dll ModVer: 11.0.8132.0 ModStamp:45fc0843
fDebug: 0 Offset: 0003ece4

Jan, thanks for the tips. Problem solved!)
It was the pdfmaker Add-in in the XLSTART folder.

Disabled addin: bluetooth send to

In my case, there was a disabled add-in, in Help -> About -> Disabled items (something about Bluetooth).

I re-enabled that, and Excel no longer crashes on exit, IF I leave the default blank worksheet open.

If I close that and exit Excel, it crashes.

Found this on another forum

However under COM addins section was something that I didn't tried, so I
check my HKLM/software/microsoft/office/excel/addins and found some "send to
bluetooth" from there.

I didn't even try to play with the parameters - I just deleted that I tried
again and it actually works. No more crashing!

So everyon - Just follow the mentioned link, or delete "Send to Bluetooth"
from registry (key mentioned above)... But remember boys and girls - Always
do backup before playing with registry. :D

:thumb: Thanks!

I've been aggravated for so many years because of this problem. Finally solved. I'm running excel 2003 on eeepc 901, and it always crashed on exit. The eeepc is my only computer with a built-in bluetooth. So no wonder the excel ran fine on my other machines. I just deleted something strange bluetooth-related under the HKLM/software/microsoft/office/excel/addins and now it's working fine!
