EventID 5723 When Joining Domain

Hi all,

Anytime a system joins my domain I get a 5723 NetLogin error on the
Domain Controler

Example:
- New Windows 2000 system install
- Network setup during install "join domain"
- New install thinks for a few then continiues with no errors
- EventID 5723 is loged on one of my Domain Controlers

Here is the complete error as I see it in my logs.

Event Category: None
Event ID: 5723
Date: 10/07/04
Time: 1:38:12 PM
User: N/A
Computer: OMEGA
Description:
The session setup from the computer ITC-DAN failed because there is no
trust account in the security database for this computer. The name of the
account referenced in the security database is ITC-DAN$.
Data: 0000: 8b 01 00 c0 ?..À


Everything works as it should and I get no other errors. Just this
NetLogin event. I'm getting a bit tired of seeing that message in my
system logs.

Has anybody else seen this?

I looked this up on eventid.net and MS Support sites but didn't find a
solution to my problem.

Are you precreating the computer accounts??

This is basically saying "there's no secure channel, so I've created one".
I would imagine precreating (computer) account objects could cause this.

Nope. No computer account exists yet in the AD. During the windows
install you have an option to join a domain. That is the first time our
AD knows about this new system.

My guess is that there is something not right with the way our server is
creating secure channels. Something is failing.
