Netlogon Error joining to Domain

E

Eric

I need to know how can I get the Netlogon services
restarted on this WIN200 PC.
Error began occurring after I joined the PC to a workgroup
from a domain, then trying to re-join back to new domain.
I have run virus scans, nothing found. Need Help. I don't
want to re- install operating system, if possible.

many possible reasons. 1. Corrupted SAM; 2. anti-virus software;

RESOLUTION:
1. Since the Netlogon service should not be configured to star
automatically on a server that is not a domain member (a stand-alon
server ora non-networked Windows NT-based computer), configure th
Netlogon service so that its startup type is set to "Manual."

I too am having the same problem.

Strangely enough, I can access the internet and any IP applications
without any problems. However, when it comes to joining any other
workgroup or even accessing a domain, I get a dialogue box explaining
that the Netlogon service can not start.

I checked to see what the startup type for the Netlogon service - it was
at manual. With time on my hand, I uninstalled and reinstalled the
"Client for Microsoft Networks", "File and Print Sharing" and TCP/IP,
all to no avail.

Before re-installing the OS, I wanted to know if anyone had any
additional information to provide?

BTW, I am running Windows 2000 Professional.

Thanks to everyone.

I have seen cases where the Windows Time service can be a problem, try the following:

1. Insure the Nelogon service is set to Manual and has a valid Hardware Profile
Enabled under the "Log On" TAB of the service
2. Insure the W32Time service is set to Automatic and has a valid Hardware Profile
Enabled under the "Log On" TAB of the service
