I have a person that occasionally double-clicks his VPN connection and
connects to my LAN. I have an user account setup for him so he can do this.
I do not have a computer account though.
http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=5723&eventno=106&source=NETLOGON&phase=1
basically says to rejoin the domain but I don't want this computer to be a
part of my domain. All I want is for this person to have access to certain
files on my LAN via a VPN when he is already logged into his local machine.
Any ideas?

TIA,
-Steven-

Steven,

While this is not much help, I used to VPN to our Domain from home to do a
lot of the grunt work on the weekend ( you know, watching the game while
everything is downloading and installing! ). I never had any problems with
my WIN98 and WIN2000 computer at home.

What type of VPN connection do you have? We had a dedicated WIN2000 Server
set up to be the VPN Server. It worked very well!
