Ethernet Controller Installation

Hi,
I have Realtek 8139 PCI Family PCMICA Card which is PnP in Windows XP.
When I plug it into Laptop A and B, Windows XP automatically detects
it and installs it but when I plug it into Machine C with Windows XP,
it detects it as Ethernet Controller and also refuses to accept any
drivers when manually provided. In short it is not installing not by
itself nor when its drivers are provided. Rest of the devices like
builtin NIC and Modem are working perfectly.

Any Suggestion.

Perhaps there's a conflict with a sound card or modem. From my
experience, there's no notice of a conflict in the Device Manager, but
the conflict is real. As a test, remove the sound card, or move the
devices to different slots.

Do you get the "Windows Has Found a Driver for your new Hardware" message?
If so there's possibly an OEM.inf file that needs to be removed so windows
can't find any inf file for that chipset.

If the card is installed and you get the yellow, not working, symbol in
device Manager, try Undating the driver and point to the ones you want to
use.

When i plug in the card, it opens "Found new hardware wizard" window.
rather than showing "Realtek 8139 PCI Family PCMICA Card found" which
is the case when i plug it into other XP machines, it shows it has
found "Ethernet Controller". When the driver path is provided to this
wizard, it says, this driver is not valid for this device. it should
be detected automatically in XP, and i have tried this on other 2
machines.
