error with ccc.exe

jennifer

I just upgraded from vista home premium to vista ultimate.
Everything seems fine untill I get this problem: whenever I eject my ipod
and turn off my laptop, there always comes a notice: " ccc.exe is still
running" with a little flashing screen. It lasts for about 30 seconds before
my laptop turns off.
Is it something wrong with my laptop? Can I do something to make it better?
Thank you people!

I have the same thing. ccc.exe is part of the ATI driver suite. I
haven't contacted ATI as they usually never respond to me. But maybe
you'll have better luck.

If you wanted to use a logoff script to kill the task it would speed it up.
(taskkill /IM ccc.exe)
Ultimate has GPEdit.msc, and you use it to choose a logoff script.

--my-logoff-script.vbs--
set shell=createobject("wscript.shell")
shell.run "taskkill /IM ccc.exe"
--end file--

Your Ipod software does not do that without the 30 sec. timeout.

Try to download and install the most recent ATI drivers/software:

To Charlie n David:

Hi Jennifer

As Charlie said you need to upgrade your Video drivers. Depending on your
card ATI has some Beta drivers for Vista. The one I had to choose floored me
when I saw the size. They called it a upgrade driver, but it was the whole
package deal and was over 125 MB. If you don't know the card you have post
back here the Make-Model of your laptop and I'll help you find the correct
drivers.

All the best,
SG

Jennifer,

I think your best bet is to contact AMD-ATI support for this.
I do not find any 1100 Series listed.

One more thing. I saw a post where you said you downloaded drivers from
Windows Update. Sorry to hear this because it was a big mistake. NEVER
download any drivers from that site. Most are outdated and some not even for
your version of windows. ALWAYS go to the source for your drivers.

You should never use Windows Update for any driver downloads, go to the mfgr
download pages. They are more up-to-date.

I see in another post your laptop is an Aspire 5100, which features an
integrated Radeon video card. Here is where to download (ATI Catalyst
software is currently in v. 8.2):

32-bit:

64-bit:

That can't be, your version is 7.10 and the most recent version is 8.2. Have
you downloaded the correct bit version (32 or 64). If so, give the download
another try, and remember to run as administrator.

Jennifer,

Uninstall your version first then download and install the whole package. DO
NOT choose the option to install over the Net, download the software and
save it somewhere on you hard drive then double click the EXE file to
install. The file size is 41.0MB

All the best,
SG
