hi there-
i want to select the diagnostic/safe mode so i can do a manual uninstall
of my adobe reader 7.0. but i am getting the following error when i
attempt to do this:

"an access denied error was returned while attempting to change a
service. you may need to log on using an administrator account to make
specified changes."

okay, i only have one account on my computer and it's suppose to have

It may be a trojan or spyware or some other piece of garbage keeping you
from entering safe mode. You're getting the same message I usually get
when I have a customer's computer with a malware problem. Try scanning
it.

A couple of very good free on-line scanners with malware removal:

Good luck,
