Error msg "D:\ is not accessible"?

I have an MSI CD-RW (MS-8348) on my wife's computer. On
occasion, when I attempt to read a disc or install a
program, I receive an error message that "D:\is not
accessible. Incorrect function". Troubleshooter (in
add/remove programs) states "This device is working
properly". No hardware conflicts appear to exist. Search
for updated driver on MS site reports "A suitable driver
is already installed". Drive came bundled with Nero
Burning software (which no longer recognizes the drive as
the one the software was bundled with..therefore no
burning possible)and InCD packet writing software(which
does work). Any suggestions/guidance would be very
appreciated.

I'm getting the error message that "D:\is not accessible"
when I insert the upgraded Nero disc (though the drive
recognizes the original "bundled" disc). I emailed Nero
tech support four days ago and haven't heard anything from
them other than the machine-generated response that I'd
hear from them soon.

I didn't know the chipsets had specific drivers. Any
suggestions as to how I determine which chipsets and
drivers I have for them? (Please be patient with me. I'm
an old DOS 3.11-type).

Do you know what motherboard you have? If you can find
that out you should be able to find the drivers for it.
