Error Message when trying to Import

Guest

After several attempts I was able to speak with someone with Earthlink, our
webhost. The representative I spoke with was able to upload files and even
created a test page that I was able to view.

I am still not able to able to import any files, powerpoint presentations or
pictures, I have tried unsuccessfully several times to import files either by
using the File-Import function and the file drag option. Nothing is working,
still getting the same error message (The server sent a response that
FrontPage could not sparse. If you are trying to connect to a FrontPage
server check with tthe servers administrator to make sure FrontPage server
extensions are installed properly). The representative I spoke with said
there is nothing else they can do as all seems to be working on their end.
She suggested I contact Microsoft.

Thanks.

Where are you trying to File-Import to?
How are you trying to Publish to the server?

Yes, I'm working with a website that's already been created and is up on the
server. I'm trying to import several powerpoint presentations (.pdf format)
and today I added a new page for several pictures w/captions and they
wouldn't save. I've tried to import directly into the page I'm working with
and I've tried to drag the items into folders in Frontpage then hyperlink
them, nothing's working. The new page gets saved and published to the server
but the presentations and pics don't because I can't save them in FrontPage.

Are you working locally or live on the server?

....and maybe you've reached the size limit of your web host package you've purchased...check with your host.

Working live on the server?

No, the rep with Earthlink confirmed we have not reached our limit.

Rob;

I just hung up with Earthlink (again), was going to inquire about some
questions that Pepper had asked (in my original thread), the rep told me that
the FrontPage extensions were corrupted and they would have to be uninstalled
and reinstalled. He suggested I try to make updates again in 24-48 hours.

I wonder why I wasn't told that the first time I called.

I sincerely hope this fixes it. Thank you for your responses.

It takes about 10 seconds to uninstall/reinstall fp extensions. Some hosts offer control panel access where you can do it yourself even. I'm surprised they didn't offer you this advice the first time you contacted them.

Hmmm, personally, I find it to be extremely frustrating when your knowledge
of computers and programs are limited and you finally get a hold of a live
person (i.e. the first call) and you hang up without the issue being solved
only to call back and be told that yes they have found the issue and will
take 1 to 2 days to fix. I was thinking "hallelujah, I've got an answer and
will be up and running shortly" only to be brought back down now having read
your email. I didn't know it shouldn't take so long to fix the problem.

Looking into a new webhost may be something the Association I work for may
want to research for the future.

Thank you.

They must have a huge backlog of service tickets, or it wouldn't take that long.
Hopefully, it will solve your problem!
I used have Earthlink as my ISP and was always happy with their service...never used them as a host though.
