Error in Bios

Some hardware is causing errors!! I believe the hardware is my D drive,
since the very first error listed storage at the top of the error and then
later my D drive went missing! Ran error checking and it came back.. so I'm
pretty sure it is my D Drive but to be 100% sure I will need to find the
error in Bios..

I was told that if I got to Bios I can find out for sure what is causing the
error. . What I need is once I get to Bios, step by step instructions on
where to go next. If some kind tech can give me step by step
instructioins, then where to go next I would be eternally grateful.. I am
getting my new external tomorrow so would love to be able to finish this
problem.. thanks Rainy

ps I have already been to even viewer System and Applications and found
nothing.

Your not going to find anything in the bios.
What error checking did you run?
For checking drives the reccommended tool is the one available from your HD
manufacturers web site
What err's did you get?

No idea what BIOS you have nor do I have any idea how you will see what the

windows error checking.. Western digital is the drive, will look at the
website and see if there is something I can download.. Rainy

I need to correct this.. and it's probably not my hard drive.. I just ran a
diagnostic tool and it said the drive was fine, also it wasn't Western
Digital, it was the Maxtor in question..But now I don't know.. hugs Rainy

Says that right after the BIOS memory check?

Sounds like a power issue - perhaps a cable that it expects to be connected
but isn't, etc.

I assume Hardware Monitor is either a third party tool, or part of a third
party utility; which one?
The best tool to test your hard drives is the one obtainable from your hard
disk manufacturers web site

"Hardware Monitor found an error" had been bothering me for some time, and
if you know me at all, I will not rest until the problem or error is
resolved. You were right about it being a power issue.. A friend of my
son's who works full time as a computer tech called me and talked me through
fixing the problem.. Here's what happened.

He took me to Bios.. asked me to read off all the tabs, and we went to the
power tab, hardware monitor. It said that the cpu temperature was high..
not all that high, but enough to shut me down on ocassion.. So he adivsed me
to take my can of air and concentrate on the fans, especially, the cpu fan
which I had done previously but didn't concentrate on the fans.. Apparently
not enough at any rate.He asked me not to make the fans spin as I could burn
out a bearing. So I did as he suggested, and it has been several days since
I got the dreaded "hardware monitor found an error"! I wanted to wait until
it had been a week so I could be completely sure the error was non-existant
but 4 days without the error is enough to tell that the error is gone I do
believe.. Thanks for all the help, I have gotten some great advice in this
group...

ps I do have a cat, and with the dust and cat hair, it was enough to cause
