After loading SP2 on home computer, following my logon I
receive an error message which reads.

"A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking
the license for this computer. Error code 0x800703e6"

It then returns to the logon screen.

I know SP2 was suppose to lock down the computer but....

Two Microsoft Knowledge Base Articles provide similar (but not exactly
the same ) error messages.

"Error Code: 0x80004005" error message when you install Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;306081&Product=winxp

"Error Code: 0x80070002" error message cites license-checking issue
after upgrade on Dell computer
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310794&Product=winxp

Did you disable your anti-virus whilst installing SP2? If not that could
be the problem. After downloading and before installing you should
disable the anti-virus.

In Google there are a number of reports concerning your specific error
message without immediate solutions. The problem predates SP2, so whilst
installing SP2 may be the trigger, it is not specifically related to
SP2. It is the updating process.

Hope this helps.
