Epson Scanner won't install

Lori

I have an Epson perfection 1250 which worked just fine
with my Windows XP at first. No, it will not let me
install the drivers.

During the install you get this popup...
The software you are installing for this hardware
Epson Perfection 1250
has not passed the Windows Logo testing to verify it's
compatablility with Windows XP, (then you get the regular
cautions about continuing) I hit continue anyway and then
I get the following:

Cannot Install this Hardware

There was a problem installing this hardware
Epson Scanner 010F

An error occurred during the installation of the device

The class Installer had denied the request to install or
upgrade this device.

click finish to close the wizard.

This did NOT always happen, when I first got it it worked
fine. This is the latest driver from their site. It
seems that this started happening after a regular Windows
XP update several months ago. Is there a way to change
the "class installer"???

The device manager just shows an imaging device (scanner)
with a big exclamation mark through it.

It worked just fine on my sons computer, even though he
got the caution about it not passing the compatability
test.

Yes, I have the latest drivers from the Epson site and
yes, I have SP1 installed.

HELP!
