I have an Epson Expression 1640XL (A3) scanner which is displaying a "fatal error".
Anyone know of a reputable UK-based scanner repair service?

Hello and welcome to the forums :).

Does this error message appear on a display on the scanner, or does it appear in the software on the PC?

Hi & thanks for your prompt reply. It's a combination of indicator lights; the green "ready" light & the red "error" light both flash continuously.

I've had a look at the manual for that error, but the suggestions aren't too helpful:

https://files.support.epson.com/pdf/exp16x/exp16xu1.pdf (page 62 onwards).

It may be best to see how much a fixed price repair from Epson would be. I've used out of warranty repair services from Panasonis and Draytek before, and it was very reasonably priced. Here's a bit more info on it:

The Out of Warranty Service can be purchased through our customer service team at:

Home Users Call 01952 607 111 - Open Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm

Business Users Call 0871 4237766 - Open Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm. Calls cost 10p per minute plus network extras.

Customers calling from Ireland Call 01436 7742 - Open Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm
